How to set global Files configuration property values

CAT Features

Problem Description

Set the global configuration properties for the Files module, for example upload file-size, caching details, HTTP-server assisted downloading, and file renditions. For file upload restrictions of mime types, see ‘How to change file upload restrictions‘. For configuring the available MIME types, see ‘How to configure the available MIME types for Files‘.

Solution without CAT

Unless you are already aware that the problem is solved by editing an HCL Connections configuration XML file, you will need to check the HCL documentation. If you do not know the relevant HCL Connections configuration XML file, how to check out the configuration XML file, or the affected properties, check the HCL documentation for the information. Then start the wsadmin console on the deployment manager (access to the server and administration rights required). Check out the configuration XML file, find the relevant properties, edit them, and check in the configuration XML file again.

Solution with CAT

Navigate to Administration – Files, subsection Configure. There, you can see all configurable properties sorted by categories. For example, adjusting the maximum file size of a single file to be uploaded, can be found in the ‘Uploads’ tab. A brief description as to what exactly the property does, is included.

After editing the parameters, a confirmation popup summarizes the changes and allows you to enter a comment. All changes, comments, and who made them, are logged by the CAT application.
